Man Buys Ticket To Watch ‘It,’ Then Walks Into Near-Empty Theater And Finds Clown Waiting Inside

I am absolutely terrified of clowns, so you will not be seeing me at a showing of the new adaptation of Stephen King's It. While I had friends try and convince me to go, I'm glad I didn't agree because strangers dressed as clowns are actually showing up to viewings of the new horror film!

Chris from Guilford in the UK is a lot braver than I am because he was excited to go see the movie. But when he got to the theater he noticed something a little scary. Someone dressed as a clown was also attending the showing and he came equipped with a red balloon.

If you're a fan of the story you'll know that Pennywise takes the shape of a clown to lure children to their untimely death. The kids often see a red balloon before Pennywise appears in a sewer or their house or a library.

Chris uploaded the photo to his Twitter account on September 8, 2017, and it immediately resonated with others as extremely creepy. Since its posting, the tweet has received over 100,000 retweets and more than 260,000 likes with thousands of comments.

The new film It is based on the terrifying 1986 Stephen King novel of the same name. In 1990, the novel was turned into a TV miniseries.

Tim Curry played the original Pennywise. Bill Skarsgård plays the character in the new 2017 film.

The new movie came out 27 years after the original adaptation, on September 8, 2017. This number is important because Pennywise, the clown in the movie, lays dormant for 27 years before reappearing.

The movie takes place in the town of Derry, where children are disappearing at an alarming rate. A group of seven friends works together to try and stop Pennywise.

One fan of the film was in for quite the surprise when he went to his local theater to see the movie.

Chris went to the theater to see It, but when he walked in, he wasn't alone.

A stranger dressed as a clown was sitting in the near-empty theater, holding a red balloon. Despite being a fan of the story, this scared Chris.

He posted the encounter on Twitter. More than 4,200 people replied and 114,000 users retweeted the photo.

He captioned the photo:

Went to see IT, I’m first in the screen and this f*cking guy’s just sitting there.

This is the eerie photo Chris posted on Twitter: a stranger in his movie theater dressed as a clown holding a red balloon.

Thousands of people replied, with many saying they'd leave the theater after seeing this in person.

But Chris actually talked to the strange clown.

Another friend was worried something had happened to him after two hours passed. Chris replied with a popular catchphrase from the film, "We all float down here."

Even scarier: The clown didn't stay in the same spot.

Chris also uploaded this photo of the clown standing in the walkway of the theater.

What makes this even more frightening is the fact that the two people seem to be completely alone in the theater with no one else in sight!

One Twitter user even asked Chris if anyone else was present during the showing of It.

I would definitely leave if that was the case!

The good news is, Pennywise and those dressing as him shouldn't come around again for another 27 years in 2044!
