In 2015, Coca-Cola Middle East released a phenomenal ad that proves why you should never judge a book by its cover. It's not so much an ad as it is a social experiment in which the team sits six complete strangers in a pitch black room, then turns on an infrared camera. The strangers begin to engage in conversation about their various interests and lifestyles, then ask the others at the table to make guesses as to their physical appearances.
"It takes 7 seconds to build a prejudice based on someone's appearance," the ad says. "So we invited 6 strangers to see each other in a different light… by putting them in the dark." Naturally, everyone has a vision in their heads of what the other folks probably look like — but watch what happens when the lights turn on. Simply incredible.
It's safe to say these people may never become friends had they met on the street, but it's amazing to see how well they get along. How incredible it would be to live in a world without stereotypes!
