There's no denying that it can be pretty hard to find something positive in a devastating situation — but when you can, that can often be exactly what you need to help heal.
Breaking up with the person you thought you were spending the rest of your life with is bad enough on its own, but when you have to call off your engagement and reveal your heartbreak to everyone you know, it can be a true nightmare. That's why a California woman's family is being applauded for how they handled such an awful situation.
Would-be-bride Quinn Duane was set to have a lavish ceremony at the Citizen Hotel in Sacramento, CA on October 17th, 2015, but just a few days earlier, her fiancé, Landon Borup, revealed he had cold feet and was calling off the wedding. The Duane family had already paid for the $35,000 feast and decided not to cancel the party and catering, but to do something to give back to their community. Instead of hosting the original 120 guests, they shared the fabulous meal of steak, salmon, and gnocchi with local homeless people.
While it's a good thing the groom didn't leave Quinn at the altar, like what happened to this bride on her big day, she understandably chose to stay home. "I feel a lot of heartache and heartbreak for her," Kari Duane told the Daily Mail of her daughter. "But I will take away something good from this."
Hopefully knowing that the night was very special for grandparents, babies and entire families who have no place to call home and rarely get such a nice meal will help Quinn take away something good someday, too.
