Chefs are a pretty amazing group of people. They work crazy hours, are constantly on their feet and moving, and do all of this in an extremely hot, sweaty environment just to provide us with the yummy food we so crave.
If you've ever been in the kitchen of a Chinese food restaurant, you know that all of the above is usually amplified by a certain degree as well. The chefs that prepare our delicious General Tso's chicken and orange shrimp dishes are some of the hardest working in the restaurant business. You can often find them in the kitchen working multiple woks at once over a flaming hot oven for hours on end. Basically, they're awesome.
But have you ever wondered what it looks like to cook for 60 people at once in a Chinese food restaurant's kitchen? Now imagine that you plan to do it all in one gigantic wok.
In this video, that's exactly what's happening. The Chinese food chef pours two heaping portions of what appears to be some type of fried rice into a huge wok, but the real magic doesn't happen until he scoops in some oil and starts rocking the wire over the fire. Not only does he rock that wok up and down to toss the food while using his ladle to help the process, but he also has to get his entire body involved to make it work. It's so cool!
It looks like he's getting quite a workout while also preparing a delectable dish that has my mouth watering as I watch the video. Keep in mind the next time you order Chinese food: These chefs are awesome.
