San Diego Cop Takes A Group Of Teens To Prom After A Car Crash

When four San Diego teens got into a car crash right before prom, they got a much-needed helping hand from a police officer.

Officer Mark Hendricks from the San Diego Police Department began questioning the students at the scene of the accident at around 8:45 p.m. He not only could tell how upset the teens were, Officer Hendricks also learned the school would close the doors to prom at 9 p.m.

With only 15 minutes til then, he quickly leapt into action and decided to drive the teens to the prom held at the San Diego Zoo himself. (It's a sweet gesture reminiscent to the Ohio cops who bought a bike for a teen in need!)

"I knew they weren't going to make if they had to wait for their parents to come down or get a taxi," Officer Hendricks, who fondly spoke about his own prom, told ABC 10 News.

The car ride also helped ease the stress of the accident. Officer Hendricks told the news station: "They seemed to enjoy the ride. They were taking selfies in the police vehicle and asking a lot of questions. It was fun for me as well."

And the teens made it to prom just in time.
