A photo of a North Carolina police officer holding a baby girl is going viral on social media, but it’s what happened before that’s even more incredible.
The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department shared the photo on its Facebook page on Tuesday and it's received more than 20,000 likes. Like the officer who went viral for helping an 89-year-old woman and the one who helped a grieving woman, this North Carolina cop is also getting loads of positive reactions.
Officers Jarka and Chomicki responded to a local call about an argument between two neighbors. The police officers were able to end the dispute peacefully and even had both men shake hands.
One of the men, who was holding his daughter in his arms, was shocked when he noticed the baby girl take a liking to Officer Chomicki. She even wanted the cop to hold her. The father told officers he was stunned because his daughter rarely lets anyone hold her. In turn, he asked the officer to document the precious moment with a photo.
“The man wanted to give the ‘peace’ sign because peace=police. The compassion and understanding that Officer Jarka and Officer Chomicki showed this neighborhood further strengthened the bond between the police and the community,” the CMPD wrote on their Facebook page.
