Mom Hits Back When Shopper Calls Teen ‘Disgustingly Obese’ To Warn Kids Against Eating Ice Cream

Every parent knows that children and adults come in all shapes and sizes. Part of loving and respecting someone is accepting them for who they are, regardless of how they look.

Part of common courtesy is also refraining from making comments about someone's appearance, even if you feel the need. As a stranger, you have no idea if this individual is going through struggles that are affecting their appearance!

Unfortunately, many feel it is necessary to make rude comments about a person's weight, as it is perhaps the most common form of body shaming. This bullying is what 19-year-old Justine Elwood experienced while working behind the counter at a Cold Stone Creamery in Layton, UT.

A customer walked in and promptly warned her children not to eat too much ice cream, or else they would look like Justine.

The customer later posted a review of Justine on Yelp, where she continued to publicly shame the teen. She wrote that although the worker was polite and courteous, her appetite "disappears" when she sees the "disgustingly obese" employee.

After seeing the post, Justine's mother, Daphne, decided to hit back. She thinks it is utterly disgraceful for a total stranger to fat shame her daughter, and it seems like her entire community agrees! Justine's manager also came to her defense in response to the post.

Justine returned to work and was welcomed back with open arms, balloons, and flowers. Justine is going to school to become a doctor, and a GoFundMe account has been set up to help her pay for it.

Please SHARE to support Justine and her dreams, and to help stop this kind of bullying!
