As we age, birthdays tend to not be as fun as they were when we were kids. There are less and less presents, and the cakes get smaller. But one dad named Jim wanted to feel like a kid again for his 70th.
"He had retired the year before, and made a casual remark, 'Maybe I should do a cake smash for my 70th birthday,'" his daughter Duffi Crowson told LittleThings. "He later said he didn't think I would actually make him go through with it!"
However, his daughter did make him go through with it, and she took hilarious photos of the entire event!
Usually, cake smashes are reserved for babies, but this dad proved you're never too old to play with your food. The pair decided on a beach location to represent the birthday boy's laid-back lifestyle.

Duffi Crowson, a photographer from Orange County, California, snapped photos of her dad for his 70th birthday.
The two decided on an unconventional cake-smash shoot, which is usually reserved for little kids.
Every good cake smash needs the perfect cake — and Jim's is covered in frosting.
Duffi created a board and wrote her dad's favorite things as well as some other hilarious notes.
Jim didn't think his daughter was actually going to make him go through with the cake smash, but once they were at the beach, he dug in!
"I didn't have to coax him at all! He just went right for it," Duffi told LittleThings. "It's one of those things you have to commit to — you can't do it halfway!"
As you can see, Jim had a fantastic time acting like a kid again for his 70th birthday.
"We shot it on a popular, touristy beach in Orange County, so yes, there were tons of people around and everyone laughed or wished him a happy birthday," Duffi told LittleThings.
The beach theme goes hand-in-hand with Jim's laid-back outlook on life.
"We are beach people so we knew we needed to set it up at the beach and it had to reflect his easy-going, laid-back attitude," Duffi told LittleThings.
Since Duffi is a photographer, her dad has come along with her on shoots and got the idea from other families. "My dad has seen me capture other cake smashes, both for kids and a couple adults," she told LittleThings.
Duffi and Jim have gotten tons of attention for their hilarious cake-smash photos. Jim has even gotten date requests from women around the country!
"We've received a lot of comments about how he looks really good for 70 — then we mentioned somewhere that he is single, so then he started receiving flirty messages from women who want to date him!" Duffi told LittleThings.
Duffi added that family and friends "couldn't believe that he did it but at the same time said it was so 'Jim'" of him to do!
Duffi and her dad loved how each and every photo came out from his special day. It was even a great bonding moment.
"We definitely bonded over it, along with my younger sister," she told LittleThings. "We were all laughing so hard. I thought my sister was going to wet her pants! I had tears streaming down my face from laughing — it made it extra difficult to capture the images!"
