Since she was just a little girl, Emma's dad, Garth, has packed her school lunch. And every day, nestled between her PB&J and cookies, Emma has found a lovingly penned note.
At first, the notes were nothing extraordinary. Little well-wishes to have a good day, encouragement to play nicely with others, reminders to pay attention in class. No matter the message, the notes always ended with "Love, Dad."
But when Emma reached middle school, the notes began to take on a new meaning. Garth's battle with kidney, liver, and prostate cancer — one he would fight for years to come — had begun, and he realized that these daily missives could hold valuable lessons for his young daughter. Because, if there's one thing we know about dads, their love transcends all health struggles.

As Garth's prognosis grew more and more grim, he made a decision that would not only change the remainder of his days, but his relationship with his only daughter.
He decided he would write 826 napkin notes, enough to last his daughter every day until her high school graduation.
With his napkin notes, Garth wants to spread the message that it is important to connect with those you love in any way you can — while you can.
