When Walter Williams' family was informed of the 78-year-old's passing, they were pained by the news. Their local funeral home in Lexington, MS, came to take the body from the home, and the family was to start funeral preparations.
But the mourning relatives got the shock of a lifetime just two hours later when they found out Mr. Williams was no longer dead.
Williams, a father and brother, started moving his body in the funeral home — a big sign that there was life in him. An ambulance was immediately called and paramedics transported the elderly man to the hospital.
Coroner Dexter Howard, who did all the paperwork, was understandably stunned by the day's events.
He may not be the first person to experience such a situation — who could forget about the time a son frozen to death was revived and a man in Ohio got his pulse back after being dead for 45 minutes — but those close to Williams (as well as the coroner) are calling it a miracle.
Of course, the family was ecstatic with the opportunity to spend more time with their beloved family member.
"So it was not my daddy's time," daughter Martha Lewis told Mississippi's WJTV. "I don't know how much longer he's going to grace us and bless us with his presence, but hallelujah, we thank Him right now!"
