Ethan and his daddy are parting ways in the Gatwick Airport but the 8-year-old has a rough time saying goodbye. He gives his dad the longest hug and wipes the tears from his eyes.
Then dad says, "I've got an idea. Why don't you come with me?" You would think Ethan would be excited but he says. "What about money?" So practical for an 8-year-old.
"We don't have passports. We don't have clothes," Ethan says, skeptical of his father's spur of the moment plan. That's when dad starts to get creative. Dad opens the truck and reveals a few suitcases.
"This one is yours," dad says and Ethan can't believe it. It was dad's plan all along to take Ethan on a surprise vacation. Ethan completely breaks down into tears of joys.
I can't help but think of the time Theo surprised his son T.J. I had never seen a kid so happy to see his dad — until now.
If you thought that first hug was long, you have to see this tearful second embrace. It's everything you hope a father and son relationship should be.
"I love you! You're the best dad ever!" He exclaims as dad picks him up.
