The video below shows us how a movement is started in under 3 minutes. While it seems a bit bizarre at first, you suddenly realize that this silly dance has all the makings of a revolution!
The idea behind every movement is that you have to make it easy to follow. The guy in this video is obviously having a fun time, and though he may be a "lone nut" he makes it seem so easy and fun that eventually the first follower comes.
The leader embraces that first follower like an equal, so now it's not about the leader anymore, but now it's about them. While the initial leader will be the one to get all the credit, it needs to be realized that the first follower is a leader in a sense as well. It takes guts to stand out like that, and to be willing to show the world that he'll happily follow this "lone nut." That first follower is what transforms that "lone nut" into a true leader.
The movement must be public, and new followers come in to emulate the followers, not the leader. Now those people who were afraid of being ridiculed, happily join in on the movement and now you've got yourself a revolution.
So if you're anything like the "lone nut," you need to remember to be kind to your first followers and treat them as equals. Remember it's always about the movement and not you! And if you're more like the follower, you should realize there is honor in that as well, and in a sense you're just as much a leader as anyone else.
You should never be afraid to strike out on your own, but you should also be willing to follow someone if the idea is good (or fun) enough!
So what's the message you want to spread? Though you might be ridiculed at first, eventually everyone will be dancing on your side of the fence!
