Little Boy Is Suddenly Approached By Cop, Then Surprised Stranger Posts Photo Of The Interaction

Daniel Benoit was patrolling around Petal, Mississippi, but this was no ordinary day of work for the dedicated police officer.

It was only a day after a deadly EF3 tornado had hit this very town and other surrounding areas. Through the devastating ordeal, people tried to pick up the pieces, and Daniel decided to raise a child's spirit.

As the cop was driving, he saw a young boy sitting in front of a house.

In the video below, posted on February 7, 2107, Daniel explains, "I saw him sitting there, so I got out, called him over to my car to see what he was doing, how he was doing. His name is Jaxon."

After chatting with Jaxon, the cop pops open his trunk and pulls out a toy car, just for his new buddy. It is the perfect gift and a source of comfort to get the young child through this scary time.

A volunteer with the Mississippi Baptist Relief Team, Rena Register, sees what is going on from afar and snaps a few photos of the kind and equally unexpected moment that the cop and little boy share. She then proceeds to share the heartwarming moment on Facebook.

Quickly, the post blows up and racks up shares quickly.

Jaxon's mom, Candace Smith, says: "Just him, just stopping and taking time out just to interact with Jaxon, we're just — we're very appreciative, my family and I." His mother is especially thankful for the act of kindness, for it's a little ray of sunshine following her and her family's first tornado.

After all of the attention, a humble Daniel firmly says, "We like doing what we do. We enjoy our community, we love the kids here and we love the citizens here, and we're going to back them and do what we can do to help them."
