Everyone reacts to surprises differently. Some people yell out in shock, while others laugh. There are even those who simply don't react at all and take it in stride.
The daughter in the video below (which was shot in Suffern, New York) was returning from traveling in Asia when she decided to surprise her parents at home.
She was filmed from behind to capture everyone's reaction.
When she walked in the house, the woman filming called out "Barb? Barb?"
From the floor above, you could hear Mom say "Oh my God!"
"Did I scare you?" she said.
"Yes! I thought you were Katie," the mom responded.
Little did Mom know that Katie, her daughter, was right there waiting for her as she began to walk down the steps.
And the moment Mom caught sight that, indeed, it was Katie, she completely lost it.
She let out a bloodcurdling scream and covered her mouth in shock!
Of course, the initial shock (and, judging from that scream, maybe a little fear) passed, and Mom quickly ran over to embrace her beloved daughter.
Dad followed shortly after, but he was a bit more reserved than his wife.
Then again, she's a mom, and any mom would be happy to see when their son or daughter returns after being apart for so long!
