In 2018 Demi Moore was in promo mode for her new book, Inside Out: A Memoir. And the promo was a family affair, as her three daughters — Rumer, Scout,and Tallulah, sat down to speak with Jada Pinkett Smith on Facebook Talk's Red Table Talk. The topic was a tough one: their mom's relapse into alcoholism.
In the clip shared online, Jada asks Tallulah what scared her about her mom's relapse. Tallulah explains, "It’s like the sun went down and like, a monster came. I remember there’s just the anxiety that would come up in my body when I could sense that her eyes were shutting a little bit more, the way she was speaking. Or she would be a lot more affectionate with me if she wasn’t sober."

Her sister followed up with her own thoughts. Rumer said, "It was just jarring," before Tallulah stepped back in. "It was very weird, and there were moments where it would get angry. I recall being very upset and kind of treating her like a child and speaking to her like a child. It was not the mom that we had grown up with."
Demi's book was released on September 24, 2019, and the actress has been on a far-reaching press tour before that. She has spoken at length about passages that detail her marriages to Bruce Willis and Ashton Kutcher.
Demi had previously been reticent in sharing details about her relapse into alcoholism. Friends claim the actress struggled mentally and physically following her breakup with Ashton. One friend told People, "She was really struggling mentally and didn’t take care of herself. She didn’t have the best relationship with her daughters either and her life was just chaos."

Luckily, her relationships with her daughters have rebounded, and the foursome appears to be doing well. The same source explained, "Now, she has a beautiful relationship with all of her daughters. Demi feels bad about the years when she wasn’t healthy. She really tries to make up for it now. Her daughters are amazing. Demi is involved in their everyday lives. And they are very supportive of Demi. They love that she wrote a memoir."
Each of the girls has shared photos with and of their mother. Tallulah posted this photo on Instagram and captioned it, "wow I finally looked related to my (wildly talented, ageless, literary phenomenon, Scorpio bombshell) mom now! #brownhairedGORLS."
Scout celebrated her mother's fearless Harper's Bazaar cover, saying, "My Mom! My mom is courageous, not because she is without fear, but because she moves forward regardless of it! My mom, Whose favorite emoji is and who is the funniest, strangest person I know, is also an unwavering powerhouse of bravery and intelligence! Her ability to keep moving forward, learn from her past and become more loving every day —to herself, to her family, to the world— is a beacon to me. I love you @demimooreofficial."
Scout also might have given away Demi's personal Instagram account. She captioned this goofy photo, "Without us, you wouldn’t be a mama, and without you, we wouldn’t even exist! @moore2d it is an honor, privilege, challenge and opportunity to be your child! I’m more certain than ever we chose each other so we could grow and become our best most loving selves in this magical mother-daughter relationship."
In fact, Scout can usually be counted upon to share classic family photos from back in the day as well. This particular shot of Demi, Bruce, and a young Rumer shows them "being flawless 90s specimens."
For her part, Rumer is equally enthusiastic about her mom's recent success. It definitely seems like all three daughters are happy to be reconnecting with their mother, and they finally feel comfortable speaking about what it was like for them as teens to be experiencing their mom's relapse.
Demi's media rounds have included appearances on Good Morning America with Diane Sawyer. She also recently trolled ex-husband Bruce Willis by claiming he got paid more than her on a movie before backtracking and saying, "I can't say he didn't deserve it."
Wherever her career takes her now, Demi's family and friends are all rooting for her — and her fans definitely are. Her willingness to be real and vulnerable has endeared her to new and old fans alike.
