Dad Uses TikTok To Teach Boys Emotional Regulation After His Daughter Dies In Car Accident

Devine Carama caught the attention of many people online after a video that he uploaded to his TikTok account went viral. In it, he demonstrated to a room full of younger boys the importance of regulating their emotions and sharing their feelings rather than holding things in.

In the clip, he holds a glass of water and instructs the children to tell him when to stop pouring into the empty cup. Just as the cup is about to overflow, the boys shout for him to stop. He continues pouring into the cup, as the water overflows.

He then tied the cup into what can happen as a result to people bottling up their feelings. “This right here represents us,” he said. “What happens is we take in everything we experience throughout the day, but because us, as young men, we keep it in.”

In an interview with Good Morning America, Devine shared that he started advocating for mental health after losing his daughter in a car accident when she was 18 years old. "That's when I really began to take my own mental health seriously. That's when I began to seek help to navigate the trauma that I was dealing with."
