Football star Devon Still and his daughter Leah stole the hearts of America during the young girl’s public battle with cancer. And now she's cancer-free.
The Cincinnati Bengals player steadily posts photos of the four-year-old, who, despite her condition, never posed without a smile.
Leah has blown the public away with her strength, just like a young girl named Hannah Higgins, who had kidney cancer but encouraged others to be brave during their fight with the disease, and Miles Scott, now known to the world as Batkid.
In a new Instagram snapshot of his daughter fist pumping, Still shared the greatest news of his life.
“After 296 days of daydreaming about what it would feel like to hear the doctors say my daughter is in remission, I finally know the feeling,” he wrote.
After expressing pride for Leah, Still also thanked everyone who supported his family during their struggle, including relatives, friends, doctors, and even strangers.
“Thank you to everyone who has sent a letter to give Leah and our family motivation to keep fighting, a toy that helped Leah get through her days in the hospital, and more importantly a prayer that helped God hear our cries for healing,” he added.
Leah was diagnosed with cancer in June 2014 and underwent surgery that September to remove a tumor. During her rounds of chemotherapy, she always appeared upbeat with her loving father by her side.
Still and his football team also held a fundraiser for pediatric cancer and donated all the proceeds from the sale of his jersey to research. The effort raised almost $1 million.
"It's meant everything to us," Still told Ellen DeGeneres about the support they received. "It's not only helping out my family, but it's helping out [other] families as well."
