Is it just me or are rabbits just the cutest animals ever? They're so fluffy and adorable with their big eyes and their little paws. Aside from their proclivity to reproduce in massive numbers, rabbits could even be the perfect pets.
Recently, the Liuzhou Zoo in southern China's Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region has found themselves in possession of a rather unique little rabbit that has become the zoo's newest resident under rather strange circumstances.
According to AustrianTimes.at, zookeepers at the zoo had purchased five baby rabbits from a local market to be used as food for one of their giant pythons (the snake only eats live food).
But when the rabbit arrived at the zoo, it suddenly started to walk on its front legs only while holding its hind legs and backside up in the air.
As you can see in the below video, the trick is rather bizarre and zookeepers aren't quite sure what to make of it.
“We thought that perhaps the rabbit had damaged its back legs," zoo spokesman Xiong Shao told AustrianTimes.at, "but when it isn't walking on its hind legs the two back legs seemed to work perfectly. It doesn't seem to be in any pain so there is no reason for it to walk like this, it can't be easy. We are completely baffled as it was too young really to have been taught any tricks, and whoever heard of teaching rabbits to walk on their front legs?”
The unique rabbit's mysterious trait, however, has saved its life. Due to its oddly compelling behavior, the zoo has decided to spare the rabbit from the snake and keep it as a pet at the zoo, where visitors have flocked to see the bunny do its trick.
“We have been amazed by the visitor numbers that have increased thanks to the rabbit," Xiong Shao continued, "It is our new star even if we really don't know why.”
That's quite an interesting way to save one's own life, but we're glad to see this rabbit get to live out the rest of its days by bringing smiles to the faces of a whole lot of faces.
