Belligerent Passenger Gets Duct-Taped To His Airplane Seat After He Fondled 2 Women

There are certain rules that need to be followed when you're on an airplane. For the safety of everyone, it's best that everyone complies. But 22-year-old Maxwell Berry might not have gotten that memo.

Berry made international news by throwing a tantrum so big that the flight attendants needed to duct-tape him to his seat.

Berry was flying on Frontier Airlines, and some of his fellow passengers took video of how badly he was behaving.

The incident occurred on a 2022 flight, and alcohol was involved. Those who tended to Berry said that he had downed two alcoholic drinks and was trying hard to get a third.

According to those who witnessed the scene, Berry tried to get his third drink by inappropriately brushing his empty cup against the flight attendant's backside. This was his first mistake. Luckily, his flight attendant — who, unfortunately, probably has dealt with situations like this before — stood up for herself.

The flight attendant reportedly responded back to the harassment by saying, "Don't touch me." But that warning didn't have much of an effect on Berry, who later took his shirt off mid-flight after spilling a drink. An attendant politely asked him to put a shirt back on.

Supposedly, Berry then wandered around the plane for 15 minutes. In that time, he sexually harassed two more flight attendants. As it states on the report for Berry, he "came from behind and put his arm around both of them and groped their breasts."

From there, a male flight attendant was asked to watch over him. But Berry reacted to being babysat by punching that flight attendant in the face. In that instance, the flight attendants did what they felt was necessary and duct-taped him to his seat so that he wouldn't hurt anyone else.

While they did what they thought was right in the moment, the flight attendants who were involved with taping Berry were briefly suspended for their actions. The videos that emerged of the event are uncomfortable to watch and contain harsh words. Not only was Berry cursing up a storm, but he was also trying to yell at other passengers over how much his parents were worth.

In one video, it's obvious that the other passengers are laughing at him. Regardless, he still feels the need to shout out that his parents are worth $2 million. Surely their wealth won't save them from the embarrassment of watching their entitled son publicly humiliate himself.

Law enforcement officers were quick to meet up with Berry and arrest him once his plane landed in Miami. His bond was reportedly set for $1,500. Ever since news of his arrest was made public, he's been discussed on social media by people who couldn't believe such an event even took place.

The flight attendants who were put on notice are also trying to fight the penalty of their actions. Association of Flight Attendants-CWA President Sara Nelson released a statement on their behalf, saying, "Flight Attendants have faced an onslaught of disruptions on our flights this year. The situation on Frontier this weekend is one of the worst examples."

"A drunk and irate passenger verbally, physically, and sexually assaulted multiple members of the crew," the statement continued. "When he refused to comply after multiple attempts to de-escalate, the crew was forced to restrain the passenger with the tools available to them onboard. We are supporting the crew."

Since the incident, Berry has posted bond and deleted all of his social media profiles — likely because people wanted to know more about him. But prior to his wiping Facebook and LinkedIn, people learned that he's a recent graduate of Ohio Wesleyan University in Delaware, Ohio. Heavy reports that if Berry is convicted, he might face up to a year in jail.

The one form of social media he's apparently decided to keep is Twitter — that is, if the outlets reporting about it have good authority that the account is legitimate and not a parody. On the account, it seems like he still hasn't learned his lesson, thus dragging out the negative attention he's been receiving.

One thing's for sure. Nobody should treat flight attendants so poorly. Their job is unlike most, and just because they help passengers have a comfortable trip doesn't mean they deserve to be treated as lesser than. Hopefully, Berry won't have to deal with any more of them in the future.
