Delicious-Looking Burger Is Actually A Creative Dessert

I am a big fan of thinking outside the box when it comes to dessert recipes.

Instead of making the same cake, the same old cookies, or following traditional instructions for baking, I am infinitely more drawn to desserts that look nothing like they're supposed to.

Instructables user and creative DIY-er Renee shared recipe for a lovely, juicy "sweet burger" — a burger whose patty is made entirely of brownies!

The trickiest part of this DIY project is making sure that the individual components of the burger come out looking as flawless and as lifelike as possible.

The lettuce, for example, was made by carving melted chocolate onto wax paper, and the other add-ons were also made in particularly intriguing ways.

But like these adorable little dessert tacos, the amazing brownie burger turned out beautifully, and is certainly a smart and exciting way to mix things up a little bit in the kitchen.

The twist? The patty inside would be made into a chocolate brownie!

"I think the best entrée is a good dessert," Renee wrote. "Why can't we ever have both at once?"

Here are the ingredients she used:

  • Brownie batter
  • Sweet Hawaiian bread buns
  • White chocolate chips
  • Green good coloring
  • Peanut butter
  • 1 apple
  • Marshmallow fluff
  • Ingredients for toppings

After whipping up a brownie batter, she poured them into five six-ounce ramekins, and baked them.

Afterward, she pushed the edges on the brownies in a bit, to make the shape look more rounded.

Next came the assembly of the lettuce.

She crumpled a big sheet of parchment paper (wax paper would work fine, too), and made sure that it had lots of wrinkles.

She then added green food coloring to about half a cup of melted white chocolate, and lined the mixture up in the middle of the paper.

She spread the chocolate outward, and flattened it so that it would be thin and crackly on the paper.

The paper was folded in half, and stored in the freezer to harden.

After a while in the freezer, the paper was taken out, and the green chocolate peeled off right when the burger was ready to be assembled.

Now, onto the final assembly!

She sliced apples to make them look like tomatoes, and peeled extra slices to look like the onions.

Then, she layered the ingredients in this order: bun, brownie patty, a layer of peanut butter, apple "tomatoes," chocolate "lettuce," marshmallow fluff, and second bun.

Renee also recommends trying to grill your brownie patty, so that it can be all warm and gooey when finished.

And, voilà — here's the final product.

"DON'T eat this with ketchup and a pickle," she warned. "That was just for the photo. It will most likely taste gross in real life."
