You know those awesome backless dresses and low-cut tops that you buy for nice occasions but can never figure out what kind of bra to pair them with? Those are typically the worst — but they don't have to be.
We know that the modern bra has come a long way since the ruling corset of the 15–1800s (seriously, can you imagine being all tied up in that every day?), but backless gowns and tops still manage to befuddle us about the appropriate undergarments to pair with them.
But YouTube do-it-yourself expert Spankie Valentine has a couple of super easy convertible backless bra hacks that'll substitute the traditional hook and eye clasp for a couple of really cute adjustable bands instead. The best part? It won't cost you an arm and a leg, either.
You'll need either a scarf of your choosing or some decorative elastic bands from the craft store, some scissors, needle and thread, and a couple jump rings (only applicable if you're using the scarf band). From there Spankie will walk you through her step-by-step instructions for each bra design, and before you know it, you'll have an adorable, supportive bra to wear with all those backless ensembles (for cheap!).
