When Mother's Day rolls around, it's easy to feel bombarded by all the gift options out there. Should you get her an expensive bouquet of flowers, or maybe a pretty necklace? What about a nice day at the spa? Maybe she'd like some lunch and a movie — but you did that last year…
As you race against the clock to find the perfect gift, it's easy to forget that our moms' love is unconditional; they'll always love us no matter what we give them, so long as it comes from the heart.
That's why I think a nice made-from-scratch gift is always the best. It might not be the most expensive, and it probably won't look like something from a magazine — but mom will know it was made with tender loving care, and that's what really counts.

Breakfast in Bed
What you’ll need:
- Serving tray
- Black craft paper
- Chalk or metallic marker
- Mimosa
- Coffee
- Flower
- Mom’s favorite breakfast foods (silver dollar pancakes, French toast, etc.)
Directions:
- Line the letter tray with black craft paper. You can use adhesive to keep it in place.
- Arrange the food on the tray and draw arrows with a description to each item.
- Add a flower, write a lovely note, and bring mom some delicious breakfast in bed!
Wine, Cheese, and Chocolate Time
What you’ll need:
- Heart-shaped cutting board (or a regular wooden board)
- Mini heart-shaped cookie cutter
- Godiva chocolate-covered strawberries
- Cheese and crackers
- Wine
Directions:
- Cut cheese with mini heart-shaped cookie cutter.
- Place cheese and chocolate-covered strawberries on cutting board.
- Serve with Mom’s favorite wine.
Coffee Gift Basket
What you’ll need:
- Basket
- Mug set
- Keurig K-Cup pods
- Biscotti
Directions:
- Fill basket up with shredded gift paper.
- Place biscotti in mug.
- Add mugs, creamer, and Keurig K-Cup pods into basket.
- Add a picture frame with a nice photo or drawing within.
Spa Gift Basket
What you’ll need:
- Bucket
- Hand towels
- Bath bombs
- Notebook
- Matching soap dispenser and tumbler
Directions:
- Fill up bucket with shredded paper, or with additional hand towels.
- Add soap dispenser and tumbler on either side.
- Place notebook, hand towels, and bath bombs within.
For an extra touch, you could also add a nice scented candle.
