If you ask me, one of the most beautiful things about being a member of humanity is the knowledge that no two people, anywhere in the world, are exactly alike.
And this world wouldn’t be as vibrant, creative, and full of life if people weren’t constantly pushing one another to think about things differently — like this woman who learns a valuable lesson about perspective from her neighbor.
Personally, I try to look at unfamiliar beliefs as opportunities that we should always be open to. That’s why, when I heard about past-life regression, I knew I had to try it.
It’s the process of meditating on all of your memories, until you reach memories of your previous life, the one that you had before you were born.
When you reach those memories, you might have flickers of who that person was, which may or may not have an impact on your current day-to-day lifestyle.
Lots of people all over the world believe in reincarnation, and in having potentially hundreds or thousands of previous lives.
For me, the jury is still out, but, regardless, it’s a fascinating exercise in introspection, meditation, and memory!
What do you think about reincarnation? Do you have any suspicions about your past life experiences? Let us know in the comments below!
Step 1: Prepare Your Space
The first step in preparing for a past life regression is to make your space as soothing and comforting as possible.
Maybe pull the curtains, light a candle or some incense, and play some soft, atmospheric music.
Create the most relaxing environment you can for yourself.
Step 2: Find A Pose
Next, concentrate on your body.
You're going to be holding still, meditating for this, so make sure you're wearing comfy clothes without anything itchy or tight.
Find a pose that you can hold for as long as necessary. That might be sitting cross-legged, lying down, or even sprawling on your side, whatever makes you feel most comfortable.
Step 3: Relax Your Brain
Now, turn your thoughts inward. Just as you relaxed your body, you need to relax your brain.
Instead of trying not to think about everyday problems (work, money, kids), try focusing your mind on something soothing and calming.
Whether it's an endless ocean or a quiet, sunlit forest, you're looking for a "happy place" that you can retreat to within your own brain.
Step 4: Start Visualizing
With your mind calm, it's time to begin the journey.
Picture yourself in front of you, however you look in your own head. Picture that figure hanging in space, not active yet.
This figure is a part of your own self, the part that you're sending on the journey to see what came before.
Try to flow into this aspect of yourself and feel that you're floating in an empty space as well.
There is no pressure or direction here.
Step 5: Find Your Path
Now, slowly try to visualize a path at your feet.
Instead of total emptiness, you might now see Dorothy's yellow brick road, or a well-trod running trail. It will be a path that means something to you.
Look down the path, and you should see a door or a gateway of some kind at the far end.
That door is your destination, and to get there, you need to start walking down the path.
Step 6: Open The Door
Visualize yourself walking down the path in your head.
When you get to the end, you should be at a door or entryway of some kind.
Picture yourself reaching out, and concentrate on the feeling of pulling the doorknob open, of the resistance of the hinge. Make it as real to yourself as possible.
On the other side, you should find flickers of memory from past lives.
Step 7: Accept What You See
Some people pass the door and immediately feel extremely strong emotions or experiences.
Others might just get an impression of a color, a smell, or a brief image.
Whatever you find on the other side of the door, do your best to simply let it wash over you.
Even if you feel nothing at all, hold on for a minute, just focusing on the impression of being beyond the door.
Give yourself as much time as you need here.
Step 8: Return To The Present
When you feel ready, come back to the present world.
Start focusing on your breathing, on the feeling of your hands and your legs.
Slowly, reawaken in your own physical body, leaving the metaphysical behind. Stretch your fingers, slowly start to move and open your eyes.
Once you feel fully grounded once more, take a moment to cherish whatever it is you learned from the past life. Consider writing it down or commit to memory.
Then stand up — you're ready to bring the lessons of your past life to bear on your current reality.
