Dr. BJ Miller is a hospice physician at the University of California, San Francisco. He works closely with terminally ill patients coming to the end of their lives — something he has experienced firsthand — and helps to ease their suffering.
When he in college in 1990, BJ survived a freak accident but lost three limbs. He now relies on prosthetics to stay mobile. It's a miracle he lived.
This traumatic near-death experience is what led BJ to become a palliative care physician for the terminally ill.
