Dog owners know how pricey a trip to the vet can be. Even a simple checkup can sometimes lead to an owner paying hundreds of dollars.
That's why Samantha of Richmond, VA, was overwhelmed when her pooch, Hamilton, had to go to the emergency room right before the holidays. She knew the veterinary cost wasn't going to be cheap.
Thankfully, Mike Goldberg of CBS 6 decided to help Samantha during this dire time as part of the news station's "Month of Giving," in which they give back to strangers. (Who could forget about the time the news station's chief meteorologist stunned a waitress with his kind act?)
Samantha was brought to tears when Goldberg told her he was going to pay for a big sum of the dog's medical bills. The heartwarming moment was all caught on video.
"You have no idea how much this means to me," she told the news station. "Even on top of that, my dad got killed last year at work. My brother had an accident, so this just means the world to me."
One of Samantha's Facebook friends also commented under CBS 6's video and explained why she deserved this helping hand.
"She always sticks to her word and pays it forward and is a kind hardworking girl that deserves to have her best friend around and healthy to be with her through the tough times, her dog is her baby and I hope he gets better soon, you so deserve this help," she wrote.

Pet owner moved by CBS 6 Month of Giving
It has been a very hard year for Samantha. So when Mike Goldberg heard her dog was sick and was in the ER for the weekend, he stepped in to help take care of her bill as part of the CBS 6 Month of Giving. Samantha, who said she had seen the Month of Giving on Facebook, was overcome with emotion.
