Police In Colombia Risk Their Lives To Save Pooch From Flash Flood

Colombian police officers were quick to react when a dog was caught in a flash flood unable to save himself.

The official YouTube page of the Colombian police shared a video of the brave rescue on Wednesday. The clip shows that it was impossible for the dog to fight against the aggressive current.

As described in the caption, the rescue was “bold and risky” because of the horrifying conditions in the La Liboriana ravine, located near a town called Salgar.

Officers are seen attempting to catch the struggling pooch with urgency. Finally, one officer is able to get him out of the water and then two perform CPR. The lethargic dog is eventually able to stand up on his four paws. And, according to news reports, the dog is expected to make a full recovery.

The video, shared two days after an intense mudslide in the area destroyed homes and left more than 50 residents dead, is quickly gaining popularity worldwide. The police officers are being rightfully commended for their work.

“What selfless, humane policemen. You deserve every accolade you receive, you are wonderful human beings,” one commenter wrote on YouTube.

Another said: “Watching this video from the Midwest. Thank you all for your service, you are all true heroes and I'm sure everyone else who has watched this video can agree.”
