It is every parent's worst nightmare to find out their child is vulnerable in the one place they can't supervise them: school. When Jetta Fosberg decided to change her appearance, the bullying became relentless. We say too cavalierly that "kids can be cruel," when instead we should be teaching them that they don't have to be. While it's totally normal for young kids to change their look, we've seen this happen far too many times.
In fact, just recently a similar story happened with a young boy. When 8-year-old Christian McPhilamy grew his hair out for two years to donate it, he was mocked for "looking like a girl." In this case, 10-year-old Jetta is being picked on for "looking like a boy." Now her mom is taking a stance against bullying everywhere.

Ten-year-old Jetta Fosberg was so excited to get a haircut. The little one knew she would be making a difference when she donated her hair to "Wigs for Kids," an organization that helps children with cancer.
She cut off a whopping 14 inches. With the way young ones get attached to their hair, this was no small feat!
"Of course, we were super-proud," Jetta's mother, Heidi, said. "We thought it was the coolest idea that she came up with on her own."
After the haircut, Jetta knew that she could give a little more.
“She decided that it wasn’t quite short enough. She wanted it shorter, so we went back and they cut it shorter and I think that’s when things got worse,” Heidi says. “Kids said she wanted to be a boy, and called her ugly.”
When the bullies became relentless, the mother shared Jetta's story and was overwhelmed by the positive responses from strangers all over the world. Since then, they've used Jetta's Facebook page to stand up for bullied kids everywhere!
"Some kids go through this, far more severe, far longer than Jetta has endured, but it shouldn't matter. We just want them to realize that this isn't just kids being kids, and kids shouldn't get to say things like this."
