That's what 17-year-old Sara Nordstorm did. The Sweden native found 21-year-old Shannon Lonergan of Ireland on the website. And though the two are not related, they look exactly like twins.
The doppelgängers were able to meet in Dublin, with the help of the website.
And seeing one another face-to-face, Sara says, "It felt a bit surreal when we finally met, a bit like looking at yourself."
Shannon's father was even brought in to see the girls next to one another. And for a brief moment, he couldn't tell them apart!
He says, "I'm still getting over it, it's amazing, I'm speechless. I definitely think Sara could be my daughter, yeah."
Shannon was the first to sign up on Twin Strangers, and gave up her search until Sara joined a few months later, and discovered Shannon to be her doppelgänger. The two not only look alike, but also share similar interests. They say that though they have different personalities, they get along and "feel like old friends."
