A thirsty elephant is lucky to be alive after he slipped into a mud pit while searching for water. The 12-hour nightmare began when a young male elephant fell into the pit and struggled to escape the steep, muddy embankment and reach dry land.
After being trapped for half a day, the wild animal was discovered by local farmers who set out to help free the elephant. The dramatic animal rescue was all caught on tape, as the men teamed together to free the elephant in Chyulu Hills National Park in Kenya.
The elephant is seen struggling to stay above the mud, sinking deeper and deeper. The farmers and park rangers from The Kenya Wildlife Service and Big Life Foundation could only look on helplessly. They were unable to free the large animals themselves, so the wildlife conservationists enlisted the aid of a construction company, who used their digger to bring the elephant to safety.
An excavator was used to free the distressed animal and create a path for the elephant to escape. In the end, the wildlife aid workers teamed up to pull off one miraculous rescue.
Finally, after spending half a day in the hole, the elephant was able to climb out and run free! These amazing heroes will restore your faith in humanity.
