One young British boy’s life has changed forever after he, along with several adults, were busted by customs officers after they allegedly found 355 pounds of cannabis in several suitcases. Officials made the discovery after the boy landed at Sir Seewoosagur Ramgoolam Airport in Plaine Magnien, Mauritius, on Sunday, June 22, 2025, with his bag alone reportedly containing 30 pounds of the drug.
A joint operation between Mauritius’ Customs Anti-Narcotics Section and the Anti-Drug & Smuggling Unit led customs officers to find 11 numbered Apple AirTags in the baggage. The AirTags suggest an organized crime operation is trying to bring drugs from Europe to Mauritius.
The boy was accompanied by his mother and five other British adults

According to The Sun, Laura Kappen, Shannon Holness, Shona Campbell, Lily Watson, and Patrick Wilsdon were with the child at the airport. Florian Lisman, a Romanian national suspect who was living in England, was also arrested.
Luckily the boy, had no knowledge of the drugs in his luggage.
He was flown back to the UK and is currently staying with family. One of the arrested adults, Patrick Wilsdon, 21, allegedly told his mother Carly Wilsdon, that he was offered a trip to Mauritius as a “free holiday.”
Experts have warned about these types of schemes.
British citizens are often promised a free vacation abroad in exchange for smuggling “mysterious packages” or drugs across borders, which has led to a string of arrests overseas. In fact, the Daily Mail reported in May that former flight attendant Charlotte May Lee was arrested in Sri Lanka after a large quantity of cannabis was found in her luggage.
Sadly, this isn’t the first time a child was used as a drug mule. According to The Sun, London has the highest number of child arrests for dealing or possessing large quantities of drugs.
