For us, it's unfathomable to know that there are living, breathing creatures out there that are being tortured and abused, and cannot defend themselves. These animals are just like us, and feel pain and suffering as much as they feel love. But when faced with no choice but to live in horrendous conditions and suffer abuse and neglect at the hands of ungrateful owners, they need a savior.
One of these saviors is Jennifer Kunz. When Kunz was small, she dreamed of being constantly surrounded by horses. Now that she's older, she has found a way to make that dream come true by establishing the Duchess Sanctuary, a home for formerly abused, neglected, and abandoned horses.
The 1,200-acre property in Oregon houses about 200 horses, all of which are cared for and attended to. Each horse has a name and a personality, and Jennifer strives to give a good life to these beautiful animals. And it seems like she's reaching her goal! The horses appear to be enjoying the warm weather, splashing around in a pool. Among the happy creatures is a gray horse named Diva, who takes advantage of the cool water by almost completely immersing herself.
