It is never too late to learn a new skill.
Whether it is taking Italian cooking classes, learning how to speak a new language, creating a quilt for the first time, or trying your hand at woodworking with easy-to-make glow-in-the-dark wooden coasters, there are endless opportunities to try to learn something new. And when I saw what this incredible group of elderly men and women were being taught to do? I was absolutely floored.
I certainly think there are plenty of art projects that you can learn to do pretty easily, like using a paintbrush to make sparkly wine glasses. But one inspirational organization in Lisbon, Portugal is taking easy and fun art projects to the next level by teaching these elderly folks a skill I never expected. And they are taking their new skill to the streets!
This surprising story and these amazing photos truly prove that you're never too old to create something inspirational.

In Lisbon, Portugal, one organization is teaching the elderly the art of graffiti!

This inspirational program bridges the gap between the young and the old by bringing a traditionally younger art form to an older generation.

LATA 65 is a nonprofit organization that aims to get senior citizens actively involved in "street art" or graffiti.

They have taught over 100 senior citizens since they began this amazing cause in 2012.

First, LATA 65 encourages their students to use their creativity and teaches them how to create and cut out their own personalized stencils.

They provide each of the students with protective masks, gloves, and spray paint cans.

Armed with their color of choice, the senior citizens are then shown how to create their very own street art using the stencils the've made.

Run-down locations are chosen around the city of Lisbon as new urban art sites in order to give them some much needed color and life!

And while painting the city, the students of LATA 65 have learned a remarkable new skill and had a great time in the process!
