Some people just can’t stay out of the spotlight. Others seem to crave it. Where does infamous convicted fraudster Elizabeth Holmes fit in? Maybe somewhere in the middle. Although she is still at Federal Prison Camp Bryan in Texas, she continues to share insight into her mind through social media posts.
One post on X quickly gained momentum when she cryptically wrote about one of her kids and how their safety and health were seemingly compromised. Of course, the irony was not lost on other X users, who quickly pointed out that Homes’ negligence with her tech company Theranos also put people, including children, in harm’s way.

According to Us Weekly, Holmes wrote, “I don’t get angry often. Tonight, I am. People put my child’s health and safety at risk. They knowingly and consciously chose this path.”
Holmes’ X account says that the posts are made by her team or written by her specifically. Maybe that means the post about her child wasn’t supposed to go up at all. But she later wrote, “I was silenced for a long time. And then imprisoned. I am fighting to prove my innocence and come home to my babies and the love of my life. I have now been imprisoned for 1,216 endless days and nights. During that time, as we fight for freedom, my loved ones have helped manage my account. Billy is one of the people carrying that responsibility for me. He fights fiercely for me and our family. I love him beyond space and time. Starting now, all posts in my own words will be marked -EAH.”
In January 2022, Holmes was convicted of three counts of wire fraud and one count of conspiracy to commit wire fraud. She was sentenced to 11 months and three years in prison, according to the Department of Justice.

The case against Holmes stated that she defrauded investors in Theranos. But her work behind the technology for testing patients also reportedly impacted those whose results were not totally accurate. So when that post went live from her X account about her child’s health, it was an opportunity for other users to be a little cheeky about how she seems to view herself.
Under the X post about Holmes saying she was “silenced for a long time,” other X users criticized her for seeing herself as a victim despite her conviction.
“You are not a victim,” one user wrote. “You lied and lied and lied and lied and lied and lied 1,000x to the detriment of so many. And you have accepted ZERO responsibility. Your inability to admit any wrong is why you won’t ever get the support you want.”
Another commented, “You are a snake oil salesman who got caught, you are hardly a victim.”

Maybe critics could support Holmes more if she didn’t also share support for Donald Trump after he announced a reduced prison sentence for the former tech leader. According to The New York Times, Holmes was granted an early release to a halfway house for August 2027. She was originally set to be released in 2034.
After the early release was granted, Holmes posted about Trump on X. She shared one of his videos and wrote in her post, “We are winning.”
It’s possible that she deleted the post about her child’s health and safety after she got blowback for her Trump support. But for the most part, it seems impossible for the disgraced Theranos founder to stay away from the spotlight.
