A California family's Christmas photo is taking the internet by storm thanks to its perfect representation of what it's like to be the only single sibling.
While celebrating Thanksgiving, the Seawrights posed for an annual photo. Each of the three couples held up a sign, revealing that they were "excited," "engaged," and "expecting," in turn. But one girl — standing on her own at the far right of the Christmas card photo — held a sign by herself that simply said her name: "Emily."
When Emily posted the photo online, she never expected the huge response it would receive.
"I think it’s crazy that it’s gaining so much attention. It was really just meant to be funny, but I had no idea so many people could relate to it," Emily told People.

Emily, a 20-year-old from Southern California, recently went viral after sharing her family's funny Christmas card photo.
"My family's Christmas card this year lmao," she tweeted alongside the photo.
In the picture (which at first glance just looks like a normal family photo), Emily and her relatives are all holding signs. Mom and Dad — all the way at left — held the family dog and a sign that said "excited."
That excitement is a sentiment explained by the other two signs — one adult child holds a sign reading "engaged," and the other holds one reading "expecting."
The fourth is held by Emily, all alone, and it straightforwardly just says "Emily."
The photo's hilarious and unexpected "twist" clearly resonated with a lot of people, because the Seawright family's photo has now been shared tens of thousands of times.
Other single women replied with similar family photos of their own.
One sympathetic commenter named Evelyn didn't have a similar family photo, but instead shared a roughly Photoshopped version of Emily's picture, with her own face and name plastered over Emily's!
Emily's photo was also shared by Love What Matters, where it got even more attention.
Commenters there shared family photos of their own, with young, single male family members in the same position as Emily.
One woman even asked Emily if she'd like to meet her son, who chugged a beer while the other four couples in his family gave one another sweet kisses in a family photo!
Emily revealed in a later tweet that the idea for the Christmas card photo wasn't an original one — she'd been inspired by another viral photo from a few years ago.
Emily explained that the photo was inspired by "egg salad man" — also known as Kaleb Noonan.
Kaleb's family photo went viral back in 2015 for a similar reason. His family's signs said "expecting," "excited," and "engaged" as well. But unlike Emily, who included her name in her sign, Kaleb simply wrote "engineering" as an explanation for his single status.
Kaleb's picture was later Photoshopped so that his sign read "egg salad" instead of "engineering," leading to his brief internet fame as "egg salad man."
Naturally, this led someone to Photoshop Emily's photo to continue the "egg" theme.
One thing is for sure — people certainly got a kick out of Emily and her family's great sense of humor!
