Woman Who Discovers Online Crush Is A Fake Finds Love With The Man He Impersonated

Emma Perrier, 33, had suffered a terrible breakup in 2015 and was on a quest to find new love.

After being blindsided by her boyfriend, her broken heart was in need of repairing. She took to online dating to try and connect with someone new, since she didn't have a ton of time to go out and meet people.

She downloaded a popular app called Zoosk, then uploaded photos and a short bio. While she wasn't convinced she'd fall in love with someone on the app, she gave it a try. She instantly received interest from men, but it was one guy who really caught her attention.

Sadly, Emma came to learn that the man she had been talking to wasn't real. Someone else was pretending to be him, and she found out by searching for the photos he used.

Emma thought the man who was being impersonated deserved to know what was going on, so she reached out to him. She had no idea that her message would blossom into something else: love!

The same night she made her profile, Emma received a private message from a man named Ronaldo "Ronnie" Scicluna.

Ronnie's profile said he was 34 years old and that he lived 100 miles away from Emma. Despite the distance, Emma wanted to learn more about him.

Ronnie even had a Facebook profile with the same photos from his dating profile.

But what Emma would soon come to learn is that Ronnie was completely made up! Another man had used these photos and pretended to be him.

When a friend suggested she use an app that could find the original source of a photo, Emma plugged one of Ronnie's in and was shocked by the results.

The real man in the photos was a man named Adam Güzel.

“I couldn’t believe it," Emma told The Atlantic.

Emma continued to investigate.

She discovered that this man, Alan Stanley, was the guy allegedly impersonating Adem. “It was devastating and I felt sick,” she told The Atlantic. “You have no idea how much I’ve been hurt inside.”

After confronting Alan, Emma wrote to Adem explaining to him that he was being impersonated online.

The two continued to talk after that initial message and by March 2017, Adem was getting on a plane to go meet Emma.

Adem flew from Turkey to England to meet Emma in April of 2017.

“I was really nervous,” Adem told The Atlantic. “Three minutes later I felt like I'd known her a long time."

The pair instantly fell in love.
