Brave Mom Speaks Out About Her Experience With Domestic Violence

Emma Murphy is a 26-year-old health and fitness blogger from Dublin, Ireland. She has two young children with her ex-partner. Her fans love her posts about health, happiness, motherhood, and living a positive lifestyle. But Emma also has a deep, dark confession.

Emma had been in a three and half year relationship with her abusive boyfriend. She recently decided to take to Facebook — facing the camera with a unsettling black eye — to describe her nightmarish experience with domestic violence. Her story is now going viral, reaching millions of people all over the world and reminding all women who have suffered that they are not alone.

"He punched me in the face, and it wasn’t the first time," she says. "Last year he split my head open at an event and prior to that he punched me as well an I had a black eye. And for the last year and a half, I’ve been told that I’m paranoid, I’m a psycho, I’m nuts, my insecurities will kill me one day.”

Justifiably, Emma was hesitant and fearful to post the following video for all the world to see. She explains why she stayed with him so long; never before did she have the courage to admit to herself that this was an unacceptable way of life for her and her children. "I thought long and hard before posting this video, this is very difficult for me but I have to do what is RIGHT, if you or anyone you know is in a similar situation please share this video to inspire other women around the world, violence is NOT the answer!!!!"

I cannot imagine the courage it took for Emma to leave her boyfriend. Emma hopes this video will encourage other women suffering domestic violence to speak out. Please watch and then SHARE this powerful video with your friends on Facebook, and help this mother's message be heard.
