In 2011, a young mother went public with her frustrating and terrifying ordeal. In the months following the birth of their daughter Pheobie, Emma and Jamie felt that an "invisible force" had begun tormenting them inside their English home.
From appliances being turned on and off, to nails popping out of their door frames, the strange happenings continued for three years.
Many visitors fled the home in fear. One special investigator felt an invisible force slapping her in the face. Emma's elderly mother stopped visiting altogether after she felt a similar force "attempting to choke her."
But then came the final straw, when Emma walked into the living room. She noticed a word had appeared in the window condensation, and it sent chills down her spine…
In 2011, British papers broke a bizarre and fascinating story.
A tortured young mother reported strange goings-on inside her home in East Yorkshire, England.
In the months following the birth of their daughter, Emma Keeitch and her boyfriend Jamie believed an "unknown force" was tormenting them.
The strange happenings persisted over the course of the next three years.
The family reported appliances being turned on and off, doors opening and closing, photos on the wall turned upside-down, and items flung across the room by an invisible force.
In the photo above, Emma says a nail had popped out of its door frame, completely on its own.
Emma hired a special investigator to come check out the house, only for her to bolt. The investigator claimed an invisible force slapped her face, knocking her down onto the floor.
Emma's own mom had a horrifying experience in the home, too. The elderly woman claimed that whenever she passed the threshold, an invisible entity would stand behind her and try to choke her!
Several visitors also claimed they saw a baby's reflection staring back at them in a bedroom mirror.
Then came the last straw.
The word "move" suddenly appeared in the condensation of a living room window.
Emma and Jamie took their 4-month-old daughter, Pheobe, and fled the home.
They had two options: either find more specialized assistance or heed the spine-tingling warning and move out for good.
Emma contacted paranormal investigator Elliott Ainley, who was thrilled to take on the case.
Following his investigation, Ainley confirmed "poltergeist activity" inside the home.
He said two spirits were haunting the house: a mother and her baby.

The mother seemed angry with the presence of Emma and her family, who had taken over "her" home.
"They appear to have both died quickly and tragically," Ainley told DailyMail. "The master bedroom proved to be a very active area. All three of us were in this room calling out for the spirit when I had a TV remote control thrown across the room at me."
But even Ainley was overwhelmed by the strong activity in the home. He suggested Emma seek assistance from the church.
That's when a retired priest named Reverend Tom Willis stepped in to help.
Reverend Willis spent a day performing exorcism techniques.
Emma says she felt an instant change in the home's energy. Not only did it smell "clean," but the interior felt calmer and more peaceful.
Since Reverend Willis' arrival in the home, Emma and her family have moved back in.
There have been no more reports of paranormal activity.
