Sometimes, the process of creating art can be just as beautiful, magical, mesmerizing, and eye-opening as the finished product. Watching an artist in action can be one of the most incredible things there is to see.
Think about music, and how it is temporary. Every note played disappears into the past, and each performance comes to an end. It becomes a memory. You can't hold on to a symphony or your favorite rock song in your hands.
Much like music, the process of creating a painting or pottery happens in the here and now. But once a painter or a sculptor is finished with their piece, there is something to commemorate the experience of the creation, like a beautiful vase or a colorful painting to hang on the wall that you can look at for however long you like.
One of the most amazing mediums to watch in process is clay spun on a wheel. It almost seems like magic when the artist touches one side of the work-in-progress, and the whole thing morphs in the blink of an eye. It takes a true talent, and years of practice to master the art of ceramics, and watching a pro at work is really special.
Eric Landon of Copenhagen has caught the eye of the internet with his truly mesmerizing videos. I could sit and watch these all day long; once you see them for yourself, you'll understand.
Eric Landon's hands know exactly how to shape the clay into the perfect form.
He's a real master at the wheel, but it didn't happen overnight. It took years of training to acquire this skill.
And the finished products? You can definitely count on them being stunningly beautiful. I would love to have this blue vase in my home.
But you truly do have to see this man at work.
Below, you'll find a video of these beautiful works of art in progress. I'm telling you, the process is just as stunning — if not more — as the finished products.
