Starting a family is no easy task. Babies constantly need attention and supervision, and parents are often awake at off hours of the night in order to sooth their crying child. It's safe to say that in this stage of infancy, new moms don't always look their "best." There's no time for makeup or fancy clothes — it's all about the baby! It's safe to say that for many women, this is the reality of motherhood.
News anchor Erin Kiernan has struggled to conceive for eight years before having a baby, after several rounds of IVF treatment and artificial insemination. Then she finally gave birth at the age of 41. After so many ordeals and newly entering motherhood, it's no surprise that Erin should look tired from time to time.
But after she posted a picture of her and her baby on Facebook, she received nasty and derogatory comments about her appearance. Commenters even said that she didn't "look like the same person" as in her other photos. The new mom had to fight back and respond to all those who criticized her.

For news anchor Erin Kiernan, it was a rough road to motherhood.

Though she had given birth at the age of 16 (the child was soon after adopted), she struggled with infertility for eight years before having her baby in October of 2015.

She's been enjoying her time as a mother, regularly updating her followers on her and her baby's progress. She recently posted a picture of them, showing how tired she felt and looked.

She wrote in a Facebook post, "I used to think I knew what exhausted was. Hilarious."
After the post, she received backlash from people criticizing how tired she looked. Many said that she looked nothing like the woman in other pictures and on television.

Then she responded in another Facebook post, defending tired new moms everywhere.
"Snarky message…
"This doesn't even look like the same person!" Etc, etc… mean, nasty, hateful comments…
Newsflash!
These ARE NOT pictures of the same person.
The woman on the left is well-rested, spent two hours on her hair and makeup, had a professional photographer take her picture (and Photoshop it, I'm sure), and is in the "glowing" second trimester of pregnancy."

"The woman on the right got two hours of sleep (maybe), hadn't looked in the mirror, took a selfie, did not put a filter on it and is covered with spit up and drool from a teething and very crabby baby.
You are an idiot if you think these are pictures of the same woman."
