Mom Posts Photo Of Sick Son, Then Gets Facebook Message From A Stranger About His Kidney

Some say it might be fate that brought Laurie Jansen to Blake Bahr and his family. One night, Laurie couldn't sleep, and the St. Louis woman decided to kill time on the web.

"I was not able to sleep one night and I opened my iPad and Blake's page came up on my Facebook feed," Laurie said.

Blake Bahr's mother, Heather Bahr, had posted an image of the toddler on Facebook. Blake was in dire need of a new kidney. He was added to the donor registry, reportedly the youngest person they've ever had to add.

Laurie didn't know Blake. She did know one thing: her mother once needed a kidney transplant too. Laurie wasn't a match and couldn't donate. Her mother died soon after.

Although she was a stranger, Laurie felt compelled to see if she was a match. After contacting the Bahr family, it turned out that she was a perfect match.

"I think there was another reason my mother didn't take my kidney," Laurie said. "I think there was just a higher reason for all of it. For me to open that page and click on it. To reach out to Bahrs and to be a perfect match. I think there was definitely a little bit of a miracle involved there."

Today, Blake is a happy, healthy little boy. Laurie had found a new family in the Bahrs. They spend time together and share a special bond.

In fact, the family wanted to give back to the hospital so much, they donated 1,000 children's books for the little ones who have to endure countless hours on dialysis.
