As our family members grow older and experience various health issues that prevent them from being able to properly take care of themselves, the time may come when we have to make the difficult decision to put them in a care facility specifically designed to help them live out their later years with dignity.
Even though they might not be right for everyone, care facilities can be peaceful places for senior citizens to live because they are surrounded by professional health care workers whose job it is to tend to their needs and any issues that might pop up. In general, we trust these people with our aging parents and grandparents. Unfortunately, that trust proved to be misplaced for one family.

Minnie was a vivacious older woman who loved to read. When she was 21 years old, Minnie left her parents’ home to live life on her own terms as a single young woman. This was practically unheard of at the time, but Minnie soon met the love of her life, Henry. The pair quickly fell in love and spent several years travelling the world before marrying and having twin girls.
A few years after giving birth to twins, Minnie discovered she was pregnant and the couple soon had a little boy named Theo. The couple raised all of their kids to be thoughtful, compassionate, and tolerant individuals who all grew up to be lovely and caring adults.
After the death of Henry, Minnie was diagnosed with dementia when she was in her 90s. Her kids weren’t sure what to do as they knew their mother could no longer live on her own, so they decided to put her in a special care home for older individuals with neurological disorders.
