It was a perfect day for marlin and dorado fishing, when a pair of curious (and hungry!) sea lions swam right up to a fishing boat and decided to make some new friends.
While we've seen otters get cozy with boaters and beautiful encounters with giant humpback whales, these seas lions are killing us with cuteness. At first, they sneak up behind the boat, obviously looking for some free food. Once the wild animals realize they're welcome guests, they hop on and hitch a ride on the back of the boat.
The boaters were shocked by how surprisingly gentle and super friendly the sea lions were and decided to feed them some fish.
"We fed the rest of our bait fish to Poncho the sea lion and his girlfriend," Rachel Eng wrote in the YouTube video caption.
The sea lion is so calm and even appears to be smiling at certain points. He looks so happy! Meanwhile, the boaters were pretty thrilled with the once-in-a-lifetime experience. They even attract a pelican, who hilariously steals one of the fish right out of the woman's hand. The friendly sea lions have more manners, though, and patiently wait to be served their delicious fish. How cute!
Poncho is incredibly good about taking the fish and being gentle with people, letting them pet and scratch him a bit. Get ready to smile because this is adorable!
