As the weather gets warmer, more and more of us are spending time outside with nature, hoping to soak up some rays or catch some waves.
But the more time we spend outside, the more we put ourselves at risk for catching illnesses.
Oklahoma mom Heather Holeman fell victim to fifth disease, a contagious virus she wants to warn others about.
The disease presents itself as any normal cold would, with a fever, headache, and a runny nose. But it soon progresses to something more serious.
In Heather's case, she broke out in hives all over her body. All of her joints experienced painful swelling.
She then unknowingly gave the superbug to her two daughters, who also broke out in an itchy, painful rash.
Though fifth disease is not life-threatening, it is difficult to treat. Doctors recommend an antihistamine and anti-itch cream for the rash. Other than that, patients need to let the virus run its course.
With a little patience and proper care, both adults and kids will heal in no time.
Heather and her daughters are now healed, but the mom wants to warn everyone about the symptoms.
