On a rainy, dreary day, Megan Zahorec learned there would be a fire drill during the day at school. She wasn't exactly thrilled, as she is a relatively new staff member at Greentown Intermediate School, where she's a counselor. As the drill came, she helped her students file out of the classroom. But when she got outside, she realized the "fire drill" was actually just an elaborate stunt.
Her boyfriend, Greentown firefighter Justin Deierling, had surprised her with a proposal she'll never forget. As Justin approached Megan, a sign was revealed on the side of a fire truck asking her to marry him. Before he could even drop down on one knee, she blurted, "Yes!"
"Megan has changed my life in the best way. I wanted to do something super special for her. We met on this date six months ago while I was volunteering for my fire department, passing out water to the students participating in a walkathon. I instantly knew she was someone special. I knew how much she loves her job and the kids at Greentown and wanted to include them as well as the place we met. I thought what better to do this than a fire drill. It was a great successes. All the kids got rings too (ring pops) afterwards. Such a great day!" Deierling wrote.
Congrats to the happy couple. Here's to many happy years together!
