When we think about other people’s weddings, our minds immediately remember things like the dress, cake, and food.
We recall all the beautiful and funny moments — like this feisty little flower girl who planted a big kiss on the ring bearer at just the right moment.
But we don’t often think about who paid for the photographer that shot those once-in-a-lifetime photos, or who footed the bill for that gorgeous gown, or paid the caterers for the delicious food.
Traditionally, the parents of the bride pay for the wedding, and a lot of folks like to stick with tradition — even if they’re paying that huge amount of money five times in a row like the Walitsch family…
That’s why sisters Lindsay, Becky, Kelly, Cassie, and Jamie wanted to do something special for their parents who paid for all of their weddings. The idea? A special surprise with a little help from photographer Rachel Blackwell.

It all started when Cassie (second from left) mentioned to her wedding photographer that she wanted to do a “thank you” photo shoot for her folks.
Cassie mentioned this idea to Rachel about six months before her sister Jamie (far right) was going to get married. Rachel loved the idea, so they scheduled their “thank you” shoot a week after Jamie’s wedding.
The shoot actually took place “like the day after [Jamie] came home from her honeymoon,” Rachel told BuzzFeed.
The sisters were all planning to get pregnant in the near future, so the photo shoot had to happen as quickly as possible.
In fact, all but one of them got get pregnant just months after the July 2015 shoot that took place outside San Jose, California.
The sisters got their hair done and wore their wedding-day shoes on the day of the shoot. “They all helped zip each other up and were talking about their own wedding days,” Rachel said.
However, the ladies had a few photographic demands, one of which was to re-create this iconic couch scene from the TV show “Friends.”
They also really wanted a shot on this vintage truck.
A picture at a local Starbucks was a must as well, specifically to show off their rings.
Because, with that kind of sparkle, who wouldn’t want to show them off?
Both the sisters and parents adored the photos. “The mother of the girls loved them. She ordered some big prints for her house,” said Rachel.
"It was a fun and simple way to say thank you for all of their support as we got married,” said the sisters as they showed off their framed wedding portraits from the precious days their parents helped create.
