Football Player Breaks Down As Team Pays Tribute To Fallen Teammate Who Died In A Car Crash

It's never, ever easy to lose someone close to you.

It's a certain type of pain that doesn't really go away, but fades with time until it's more bearable to live with.

But, that peace doesn't come easy and it definitely doesn't come quickly.

This pain can be even greater when a loved one dies suddenly, without any warning, and at a young age.

It's always such a shame to see a life half lived taken away before old age even has a chance to settle in.

It leaves such a feeling of injustice and confusion behind, and you always picture the many things that you're sure your fallen friend would have done had they only had the time.

It is this particular type of pain that the members of the University of Nebraska football team have been experiencing since July 23, when a car accident claimed the life of their beloved punter, Sam Foltz.

Foltz's presence is sorely missed by his teammates and fans, so the team decided to pay tribute to their fallen member during their game against Fresno State.

When Nebraska had a 4th down, they sent out 10 players rather than the required 11, in order to honor Foltz. The only player they were missing was a punter.

This act resulted in a penalty against them, which the opposing team declined as a way of also commemorating Foltz.

It was a beautiful tribute that left many who watched in tears.
