Model Hid White Patches On Face For 10 Years, Then Finally Shares Makeup-Free Photo On Instagram

Breanne Rice was a successful model, breaking through in the industry. Then she noticed a tiny white patch underneath her left eye. Little did she know, that spot was going to grow into her biggest insecurity.

As the white spots spread across her face, Breanne decided to visit a dermatologist.

The doctor diagnosed her with vitiligo and added, "There's really no cure for it."

A disappointed Breanne had to carry on and deal with her skin. She began hiding it with layers of makeup, which slowly became a nuisance to her. Her routine took 45 minutes longer than it used to, all so she could keep her skin condition a secret and try to continue with her modeling career.

Unfortunately, Breanne threw in the towel. According to her, when it came to modeling, "I didn't feel good enough."

In the video below, posted on December 8, 2016, Breanne explains that people who didn't understand her condition often asked her if she got a bad sunburn. Comments like these did nothing but help her self-esteem plummet even more. Eventually, she had enough.

Breanne took to her Instagram and posted a barefaced selfie, white patches and all.

"It felt like such a big weight off of my shoulders," a smiling Breanne says. "Now I think my vitiligo makes me beautiful because it's me."

Her bravery shows other vitiligo sufferers they are not alone and that they should embrace their beauty. Breanne learned to love the skin she's in and may even return to modeling in the future. For her full story, check out the video below.
