When Katie and Chris Muchard got the news that they were expecting, they had not prepared for having four babies at once. The couple embraced this new fate with open arms as they expanded their family.
For the first 20 weeks of her pregnancy, Katie felt fine, but after feeling like she was "hit by a truck," doctors put her on bed rest. About 10 weeks before her due date, Katie began to feel ill. The mother thought she might have a blood clot, so she rushed to the hospital. Doctors detected a complication with Katie's placenta and decided to deliver the babies via C-section.
Then it happened: Katie gave birth to her four babies. There were three boys, Brian, Owen, and Mason, and one girl, Lillian, the smallest of the bunch at one pound, 15 ounces. What left everyone stunned? Katie delivered the four children in four minutes. I think any mom who has gone through labor with one baby knows that is no small feat! Each baby was born healthy, but due to their premature birth, they had to spend several weeks in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit.
"Thank you everyone for all the well wishes on our babies! I just was able to experience the greatest thing in life meeting my babies for the first time and seeing their dad light up changing their diapers!" Katie shared on Facebook after finally getting all four of her little ones home.
