Frank Sinatra has been a legend of the music industry ever since his debut album in 1946. By the time he joined Dean Martin and the rest of the Rat Pack in Las Vegas in the early 195os, he'd already won the hearts of millions as a teen idol. Just imagine kids today lining their bedroom walls with Ol' Blue Eyes instead of Justin Bieber! That's exactly what is was like for the "bobby soxers" who fell head over heels for the New Jersey native.
While Sinatra topped the charts and sold out theaters with his starring movie roles, he also made time to help make the Christmas season extra-special with his iconic crooning of holiday classics. In 1957, he decided to contribute a brand-new tune with this adorable little ditty, "Mistletoe and Holly." It's now an old standby for the holidays, but here he performs it for the first time for his television showcase.
The sweet tune always puts me in the festive mood as he describes all the wonderful things we get to enjoy while waiting for December 25 to finally arrive. Listening to his one-of-a-kind voice as he gives his own tree the trim with candy canes and tinsel is the perfect way to make the whole family feel warm and fuzzy inside. I just love how serious his face is while he serenades the silly lyrics "Oh, by gosh, by golly." I definitely recommend playing this while you and your loved ones decorate your own tree this year!
And don't forget to SHARE with your friends so they can enjoy this adorable blast from the past!
