There are certain things we like to keep secret in our lives until the time is just right. One major milestone that most folks like to hold onto for themselves at first: a new baby! In fact, parents are typically encouraged to keep a tight lid on their upcoming event for at least the first trimester. It's like waiting for a soufflé to rise, but it's the mama's belly instead of sugar and dough.
I love seeing how creative the mom- and pop-to-be have gotten lately with the way they share the happy news. In the past, you might have expected to receive a tasteful card in the mail or simple phone call from your loved ones. These days, though, it seems mandatory to film an adorable surprise reveal for your friends and family to enjoy even after the little bundle has arrived.
For expectant parents Erik Herrera and his wife, Rebecca, they decided to go with a silly and fun idea when it came time to finally reveal their secret to the world. The video begins with them explaining all the joys of their carefree marriage, but things soon take a turn when they spot something hurtling "down the fallopian tubes."
Filmed as a parody of wacky blockbuster movie trailers we've seen countless times, they highlight all of the joy, love, happiness, and occasional frustration that comes with the new-parent territory. I'm sure every mom and dad will recognize more than a few familiar traits!
